Indie Art Culture – My Little Pop Up At Johor Bahru
If you, by any chance, would have visited Johor Bahru’s oldest cultural street, Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, you would notice the set up of a pop up store called “My Little Pop Up“. So, what is it all about?
The event was all planned within just a few days, where the event venue was originally a barber shop. With the pop up store in place, visitors would now have a new favourite location in Jalan Tan Hiok Nee.
Taking inspirations from the temporary markets or events which have been taking Johor Bahru by storm in the recent years, My Little Pop Up decided to ride the wave and gathered 12 local handcraft artists to offer all of us a taste of handcraft art culture (JB style). Everyone who has visited the store is said to be amazed and surprised by what this little pop up store can offer in such a limited space.
Event partners Yan Qin and Ireen Tan mentioned that through the platform of My Little Pop Up, they hope to introduce various local handcraft artists and showcase some of their best works. Being handcraft artists themselves, they believe there are definitely items which visitors find interesting and would love to bring home with them.
My Little Pop Up also offers visitors a chance to learn the making and production of these handcrafts such as dream catcher, bag etc, by attending workshops there. If you are interested to attend some of these classes, you may make your enquiry through their Facebook page. The event started from July 3, lasting for the entire month to August 3. Those who have not visited the pop up store at Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, please make your appearance soon and you would be immersed in the rich culture of art there.
