Stephen Orlando: Creating Waves Of LED Lights
Photographer Stephen Orlando has collaborated with Olympic kayaker Adam Van Koeverden for an ongoing project called “Motion Exposure”, creating a series of photographs featuring a wave of LED lights floating above the surface of the water. The waves of neon light effect are created by installing LED lights to the paddle of a kayak and then taking long exposure photographs of the motion of the paddle. The end result is the beautiful LED light waves floating on the water, which records the rhythm of the kayaking journey. The project has an aim of capturing “a moment in time and tell[ing] the story of movement of paddling” and it is “a really unique intersection of technology, sport and art. the result is a striking image representing something more than simply a moment”, says Orlando.
